Supreme Court: End Trump’s Deadly Lies & Rhetoric Before More Blood is Shed
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Wichita, KS
June 15
We submit this letter to highlight a critical threat to our constitutional order: President Trump and his allies' ongoing disinformation and incitement. This crisis demands your urgent attention. Justice must not only be delivered but also resonate.
A factual record underscores this situation:
- The Washington Post has reported 30,573 false or misleading statements from Trump during his first term, averaging 39 per day in his final year. Scholars call this a “firehose of falsehoods,” aimed at undermining public trust. Historian Timothy Snyder emphasizes that “the truth is never with those who hold power.”
- Trump's false claims of a stolen election incited the January 6 insurrection, resulting in five deaths and over 140 injured law enforcement officers. His pardoning of insurrectionists signals that political violence is tolerated.
- Violence continues. In July 2024, a gunman attacked a presidential rally, and in June 2025, Minnesota state Representative Melissa Hortman was killed in an attack on “traitorous politicians.” Such violence reflects a broader pattern that began with past incidents fueled by Trump’s rhetoric.
These events signify a democracy under siege. When a president normalizes xenophobic language and pardons those who engage in insurrection, it blurs the lines between dissent and treason. America's global leadership confidence has drastically declined.
We urge the Court to act as a guardian of the republic by considering:
1. Criminal liability for officials who spread falsehoods inciting violence, similar to laws against defamation and fraud.
2. The reaffirmation that incitement based on provable falsehoods may violate First Amendment limits, threatening social order.
3. Mechanisms requiring public agencies to monitor and correct politically motivated disinformation.
Extraordinary times call for exceptional justice. The Constitution is meant to protect against internal and external threats. We urge the Court to exercise its authority before more lives are lost and the rule of law is further undermined.
