Vote no on the bundled funding bills – separate DHS/ICe funding for oversight

To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Luna, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Clearwater, FL

January 25

Dear Senator; I urge you to vote no on the bundled, appropriations package, and demand that funding for DHS and ICE be stripped out and voted on as a separate standalone bill. It is time for Congress to impose necessary conditions, and oversight on DHS and ICE funding. Recent events have demonstrated that DHS and ICE require immediate congressional oversight and accountability. Innocent American citizens are being harmed in our communities. The unnecessary and gruesome shootings of Renee Good, and Alex Prette an ICU nurse working at the VA bring home the dangerousness of the lack of training and oversight. Do not give another dollar to DHS or ICE until Congress establishes strict conditions, and oversight on how these funds are used. Vote no on the bundle appropriations package. Demand ICE/ DHS funding be separated into a separate standalone bill. Ensure any DHS and ICE funding include strong oversight conditions, including adequate training; this includes de-escalation training. The American people deserve safety and accountability. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
