Vote no on HR9495

To: Rep. Posey

From: A constituent in Palm Bay, FL

November 16

The proposed legislation to terminate the tax-exempt status of organizations deemed "terrorist supporting organizations" is deeply concerning. This provision grants excessive authority to the Secretary of the Treasury to unilaterally designate and penalize groups based on an overly broad definition. Such unbridled power raises serious risks of abuse for political purposes or targeting dissenting voices. While combating terrorism financing is a valid goal, this approach undermines due process and risks infringing on fundamental freedoms of speech and association. I urge you to oppose this bill and instead pursue more narrowly tailored, constitutional methods that properly balance security with civil liberties. Recklessly dismantling organizations over perceived political disagreements threatens the foundations of our democracy.
