I’m writing today to express my severe disappointment in your vote in favor of the NDAA. I wrote earlier to express deep concern about the TRICARE section that would block some children from receiving gender affirming care. As a DoD civilian I’m outraged that you allowed the NDAA to be politicized in this manner — to attack a vulnerable population of your constituents, no less. Your vote is a true reflection of your values and shows your true colors. Take a page from Sanders and Warren’s books; they voted no on the bill and are some of our most beloved leaders. If you do not stand with marginalized communities, do not expect them to stand with you. I look forward to the next primaries, where Virginians can find senators who will truly stand up for human rights.
