I strongly support the Improving Access to Home Dialysis Act to increase home dialysis options for kidney patients. This crucial bill mandates patient education on all treatment choices, expands the healthcare workforce for home training, and provides transitional in-home support services. Despite offering greater flexibility and independence, only 14% of U.S. dialysis patients currently utilize home therapies. By reducing barriers, this legislation could drastically improve quality of life for many, especially those in remote areas with long travel times to clinics. I urge Congress to pass this act and prioritize giving kidney patients full access to home-based kidney care.
