Take Action for America’s Workers: Sign the Discharge Petition for H.R. 2550 Now

To: Rep. McGuire

From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA

July 17

I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to sign the discharge petition for H.R. 2550, the Protect America’s Workers Act. This bipartisan bill is urgently needed to restore collective bargaining rights for federal workers who protect our health, defend our country, and care for our veterans every day. These public servants—nurses at the VA, teachers at DoDEA schools, food safety inspectors, and homeland security professionals—deserve the right to have a voice on the job. In March, over a million federal employees were stripped of these rights by executive order. H.R. 2550 would reverse that decision and preserve current union contracts, ensuring fair treatment and workplace stability across the federal workforce. This is not a partisan issue. Over 70% of Americans—Democrats, Republicans, and Independents—support labor unions and the right to collectively bargain. That support reflects a simple truth: workers deserve a seat at the table, especially those doing some of the most critical jobs in the nation. Signing the discharge petition is a chance to move this bill forward without delay. Every day that passes without action puts more public workers at risk of retaliation, wage suppression, and loss of vital protections. Please stand up for the people who stand up for us. I urge you to be a champion for federal workers by signing the discharge petition for H.R. 2550 today.
