I understand that yesterday the House Appropriations Committee adopted an amendment (https://substack.com/redirect/f42d2841-9607-4776-870e-9388316d3019?j=eyJ1IjoiYXlnanAifQ.T6UfmtUSHaSzROql4dk0P8hiSMgmNaM7190u4j1jmJo) to a major funding bill yesterday —it was offered by Rep. Adriano Espaillat— that would enact new privacy protections against data brokers. I am glad to see that Congress is finally getting serious about protecting our data and I support this amendment. I would be even happier to see the House pass HR 4639 (https://substack.com/redirect/018f9dcb-a0c4-431f-8e98-4e983bdef1f4?j=eyJ1IjoiYXlnanAifQ.T6UfmtUSHaSzROql4dk0P8hiSMgmNaM7190u4j1jmJo), the Fourth Amendment is Not For Sale Act, which would go even further to protect Americans from being surveilled by our government. Either way, please don’t vote to reauthorize FISA until the data broker loophole is closed and warrantless searches are blocked.
