An Open Letter

To: Sen. Kim, Sen. Booker

From: A constituent in Bridgewater, NJ

June 26

I am a NJ resident and I am writing to urge you to oppose S. 1404, the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA), which would open the door to deeper ICE involvement in everyday life and would further endanger our communities. CORCA would create a massive policing hub to assist state and local law enforcement with retail theft investigations, housed within ICE, putting more ICE agents on our streets and expanding this abusive agency’s role into domestic policing nationwide. It would also create a DHS-run data-sharing system that authorizes broad data sharing between federal, state, local, and private-sector entities – without any standards governing how our personal data will be collected, used, or stored. I urge you to oppose S. 1404. Thank you.
