End the shutdown, protect American citizens
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Miami, FL
October 10, 2025
I am writing as a concerned American citizen to demand that you act immediately to end the government shutdown and extend vital medical support to the people of this nation. Every day that this shutdown continues, millions of Americans face greater uncertainty—especially those who depend on affordable healthcare, federal medical programs, and the hospitals that sustain our communities.
Healthcare is not a privilege for the wealthy; it is a fundamental necessity for every person. The rising cost of premiums, combined with the threat of funding cuts and service disruptions, will devastate working families and put countless lives at risk. Hospitals and clinics—already operating on thin margins—cannot continue to provide essential care if political gridlock continues to block critical funding.
Your duty is to serve the people, not the interests of a privileged few. By refusing to find common ground, Congress is endangering lives, weakening our healthcare system, and betraying the trust of the American public. We cannot afford to lose access to care because of political gamesmanship.
I urge you to put aside partisanship and prioritize what truly matters: the health, safety, and wellbeing of the American people. End the shutdown. Protect and expand healthcare support. Do your job—for all of us.
