The continued unlawful detainment of immigrants like Mahmoud Khalil by ICE is an egregious violation of constitutional rights that must be addressed. As a lawful permanent resident, Mahmoud was unfairly targeted, detained without charges, and faces potential deportation solely for exercising his First Amendment right to peaceful protest. This blatant retaliation sets a dangerous precedent that undermines free speech protections for all. I urge you to call on the LaSalle Detention Center to release Mahmoud and return him to his family. Even if the democrats are in the minority, you can still show the people that the Democratic Party is the party that values free speech and human rights.
