Today, September 1, 2026 — nine weeks before the midterm elections — a federal whistleblower revealed that the U.S. Postal Service secretly built an entirely new IT system to restrict mail ballot delivery while courts were actively blocking that very effort.
The whistleblower’s 20-page report, released by Senator Richard Blumenthal, describes what USPS staff internally called a “sh*t show.” The system — called the Federal Ballot Mail Portal — was built in secret beginning in June 2026, received just four days of user testing, had constantly changing plans that were never put in writing, and was rushed to completion by September 1 despite a court order blocking its implementation.
Here is the most chilling detail: if a single ballot envelope scan does not match the portal’s data, USPS will refuse to deliver the entire batch. Thousands of ballots — delayed or rejected — because of one scanning error in an untested system built in secret against a court order.
“Potentially millions of American voters may not receive their mail-in ballot this election cycle in a timely manner, or at all,” the whistleblower writes.
Senator Blumenthal said it plainly: “This is not just incompetence. It is designed malfunction.”
We agree. You do not secretly build an untested ballot system while courts are blocking you, rush it to completion nine weeks before an election, and call it anything other than deliberate voter suppression.
North Carolina begins sending ballots THIS WEEK. Other states follow within days. The window to stop this catastrophic failure is not weeks away. It is now.
We demand that Congress hold emergency hearings on the USPS whistleblower report today, demand the immediate suspension of the Federal Ballot Mail Portal, and pass emergency legislation protecting mail ballot delivery ahead of November 3rd.
This administration is not trying to secure elections. It is trying to steal one.
