On our nation's 250th birthday, I call on you to do whatever you can to facilitate the impeachment and removal from office of Donald Trump. There are too many reasons to list, and I know you already know them, even if you don't want to look them in the eye and admit what the constitution demands be done in response to them. But you need to. This is not about politics. This is about the security of our nation. It's about the financial stability of our nation. It's about Americans being able to afford the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. It's about families, communities, and individuals all being safe from government persecution. It's also about repairing America's dignity. This past week has shown, even more than so many other incidents over the past decade, the ways in which this self-aggrandizing would-be despot with no taste and a buffoon's instincts has degraded our nation and made it a laughingstock of the world. That he stole from the American people -- quite literally, with his foundation committing wire fraud in the process -- to turn our 250th anniversary celebration into a vanity exercise and a way for him to make yet more money, that is reason enough on its own to impeach him. But there are so, so many others as well. You need to be calling for that, loud and clear, on a daily basis, or else you are betraying your oath to the Constitution. Do what our democracy demands. Take action that will save America so that it may last another 250 years.
