Additional Iran War Funding

To: Rep. Dunn, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A verified voter in Tallahassee, FL

March 22

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to express my adamant opposition to the Pentagon’s recent request for an additional $200 billion in emergency military aid. At a time when our national debt has surged past $39 trillion and American families are reeling from a cost-of-living crisis, this request is the definition of fiscal irresponsibility. Our country is currently engaged in a widening conflict with Iran that was launched on February 28th without a single vote of authorization from Congress. Per the U.S. Constitution the power to commit this nation to war rests with you the people's representatives not the executive branch. To fund an unauthorized and "illegal" war is to abandon your constitutional oversight. Furthermore, the economic consequences of this conflict are already devastating: The closure of the Strait of Horumz has has drove up the price of oil and therefore gasoline for everyday Americans. My town is seeing gas prices that are unsustainable for the average worker. Additionally this stupid war that no one wanted, no one voted for, and that is driving up the cost of living; is also tanking my 401k! The Department of War must make do with the existing stockpiles and the massive $800+ billion budget already allocated for this fiscal year. We do not need to spend hundreds of billions more on another unpopular foreign war while attempting to slash veterans benfits!!! Our nuclear deterrent remains the ultimate guarantor of the American homeland; we do not need to bankrupt our future to fight a war of choice in the Middle East . If the military is running low on munitions, the solution is not more money. It is to bring them back to the United States where they belong in the first place. I urge you to demand that our forces return home to secure our own southern border. Our actual "war" is here at home, against the drug cartels and the fentanyl epidemic that is killing 100,000 Americans a year. As well as traffiking in desprate foreign peasents to drive down wages and displace American workers. I ask that you stand with your constituents, reject this $200 billion request, and demand an immediate de-escalation. Our mission is to protect the United States of America, not to destabilize our own economy to fight a war for Isreal.
