Earlier this month, President Donald J. Trump threatened to cut several important funding programs to the state of Minnesota, including funding to food programs, welfare, daycare, education, etc. This is obviously a retaliatory decision made by the President to a state that three times failed to vote for him as President, and to hurt whom he sees as his political enemies. Well, he has done just that. On January 13th, my wife was let go from her job with Providers Choice, a business that works with day care providers to secure food plan funding. I understand that there will more-severe consequences for people in this state who rely on that funding for their food access, but this will have real-world consequences for our family. Our daughter is a freshman in college, and our son is in 8th grade in the Anoka-Hennepin school district. Trump's economic policies have already made most products we rely on more expensive than they were on a two-house salary; now it will be so much harder on our family, to the point of being a near impossibility. Trump's cruel cutting of these funds is just that: cruelty for the sake of making himself feel big. But it is affecting the lives of your constituents. Do something to fix this and make your constituents' lives better, or at least, the same level they were before #47 decided to use this term as a way to punish anyone he deems his enemy. And also: figure out a way to punish the Department of Justice for missing the deadline to release the entirety of the Epstein Files. I am sick of this administration seeing themselves as "above the law."
