Choose to Fund Healthcare and Child Care, Not Warfare

To: Rep. Wittman, Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner

From: A constituent in Henrico, VA

April 2

Donald Trump claimed today that our government can't pay for Medicare, Medicaid, or day care because we have to spend all that money on our military. I want you to tell him no. He started this pointless, expensive war. The American people did not ask for it and do not want it. We want healthcare. We want child care. We want education. We want improvements to infrastructure. In 2025, the US spent more on its military than the next nine countries combined. We spend three times more than China. We do not need to. Our country will be just as safe if we spend a fraction of that, like other sane countries in the world. We have to start saying no to the military industrial complex purposelessly enriching itself at taxpayers' expense. Spending all our money on war rather than on making people's lives better is a choice -- and it's not the one we should be making. It's an embarassing choice. I want you to choose differently.
