Expand House representation to enhance democratic accountability

The size of the U.S. House of Representatives has remained fixed at 435 members since 1911, despite the significant population growth and changing demographics of our nation over the past century. With the current average of nearly 762,000 constituents per Representative, many Americans lack adequate representation in Congress. This bill aims to rectify that by establishing a method to determine the appropriate House size based on a ratio of 1 Representative per 500,000 people. Increasing the number of Representatives would better reflect the diversity of our populace and provide more localized, accountable representation. It would also help reduce disparities in district populations and ensure historically underrepresented groups have a stronger voice. As our nation has grown larger and more diverse, our legislative body should evolve to truly be the "People's House." I urge you to support this much-needed reform to strengthen our democracy.
