Oppose "Operation Protect the Vote" Arrests Targeting Lawful Residents
To: Sen. Curtis, Rep. Moore, Sen. Lee
From: A verified voter in Logan, UT
October 20
Oppose the DOJ's "Operation Protect the Vote" arrests in California and push back against this administration's abuse of voter fraud claims to target lawful permanent residents.
Eleven people with lawful permanent resident status were arrested Monday for alleged voter fraud. Hours later, First Assistant Attorney Bill Essayli admitted at a press conference that some of them may not have even voted. That is not law enforcement. That is political theater at the expense of people's lives and liberty.
The DOJ handed California a flash drive of nearly 200,000 "likely noncitizen" voters on October 14, with no clear explanation of how that list was compiled. Noncitizen voting is already vanishingly rare, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. This operation is not protecting elections. It is spreading fear in immigrant communities and pressuring states to purge voter rolls based on an unreliable list before midterm ballots are even counted. Speak out against this now, and use every available tool to stop it.
