Uphold your responsibilities to confirm nominees
To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis
From: A constituent in Huntersville, NC
December 4
The Senate plays a vital role in upholding the system of checks and balances by thoroughly vetting presidential nominees to ensure they are well-qualified to serve the American people and faithfully execute the duties of their appointed positions. Respecting this constitutional responsibility is crucial regardless of which party controls the chamber or occupies the White House. A return to the traditional confirmation process, including thorough committee review of background materials, public hearings to assess qualifications, and full floor consideration, is imperative. Only nominees who demonstrate the highest standards of competence, ethics and commitment to the rule of law should be confirmed. The Senate must carry out its advice and consent function diligently to protect the integrity of our democratic institutions.
