Please vote no on House bill 1343 and Senate bills 1017 and 593. House bill 1343 aims to abolish ODMHSAS and transfer its services to the Department of Corrections. It is 2025 and it is really sad that I have to explain why mental health should not be criminalized. I am appalled by this bill. Please do whatever you can to make sure it doesn’t leave a committee. Senate bill 1017 would remove protections for services that are a need to so many children on an IEP. Many families wouldn’t be able to pay for private services if they weren’t provided by the school. Children would have miss a substantial amount of school to attend these services if they were not included in the school. Then parents would be hit with truancy or getting their children vital services. Please do not make it harder on families with children who have special needs. Senate bill 593 restricts reading or watching adult content. This includes romance books and movies or tv shows. Please do not allow this to see the light of day. Consenting adults should not be told what they can and can’t read or watch. Can we focus on getting grocery prices and prescription drugs costs down or maybe a way to stop being 49th in education instead of constantly coming after our civil rights and liberties? I truly appreciate your civil service and I know these bills were not written by a democrat and we have a super majority against us. Thank you for your time.
