Reject proposal to sell off US public lands
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Winter Park, FL
June 20, 2025
The proposal from Senator Mike Lee to sell off millions of acres of public lands across the West is alarming and ill-advised. These lands, encompassing over 18 million acres in Utah alone, are treasured spaces that belong to all Americans. They provide invaluable recreational opportunities, sustain local economies through tourism, and safeguard our natural heritage. Selling off these lands would deprive future generations of their rightful access to pristine wilderness areas, beloved hiking trails, and iconic landscapes like those surrounding our cherished national parks. Furthermore, the inclusion of grazing lands in this latest version of the bill jeopardizes the livelihoods of hardworking ranchers who have depended on these public lands for generations. Ranching communities would suffer greatly from the loss of access to the very lands that sustain their way of life. Public lands are a shared national resource that must be protected for the benefit of all Americans, not auctioned off to the highest bidder. I implore you to reject Senator Lee's misguided proposal and safeguard our public lands for current and future generations to cherish and enjoy responsibly. These lands are an irreplaceable part of our natural legacy and must not be sacrificed for short-term gains.
