Last year, a report criticized the NIH for a huge gap in research funding around women and health issues they experience as compared to research involving men. Now, this new administration has removed most mentions of anything having to do with women's health.m from the NIH and the CDC.
For perimenopausal women, women who experience early menopause, and women who have had surgical menopause due to cancer, the advancements in understanding what a lack of estrogen does to us in menopause is critically important for us living healthy and productive lives. It WILL lower health costs and improve their quality of life. Estrogen protects your heart, brain, and bones.
For women who had breast cancer, the research indicates DIFFERENT care as they age and more research should be conducted- but who knows if this will continue.
Additionally, most medical research has been done on men. Women are half the population of this country.
Please restore research funding to the NIH. The research informs care at all stages of for women.
