Oppose the President & Vice President’s Pressure to Further Gerrymander Indiana
To: Gov. Braun
From: A constituent in Mount Vernon, IN
August 11
I am writing to express my deep concern over reports that President Trump, Vice President Vance, and their allies are pressuring you as a Governor to pursue a mid-decade gerrymander of Indiana’s legislative districts. Such an action would be unprecedented, undemocratic, and, in my understanding, unlawful under our state’s current redistricting process.
The idea of redrawing district lines in the middle of the decade — outside the normal census cycle — to serve the political interests of any party undermines the very foundation of representative democracy. It would weaken public trust, distort fair representation, and silence the voices of voters across Indiana.
Our elections must be fair, transparent, and competitive, not manipulated to protect those in power from political accountability. I strongly urge you to oppose any effort to alter district boundaries before the next census, and to speak out publicly against this attempted “midterm map rigging.”
Please stand with Hoosiers who value our right to have a meaningful vote and an equal voice in our government. We are counting on you to defend democratic principles and say a clear, unequivocal “no” to this dangerous proposal Oppose the President & Vice President’s Pressure to Further Gerrymander Indiana
