Imagine standing at a pharmacy counter with a sick child and learning that their medicine is no longer covered. Imagine having to choose between paying for treatment and keeping the electricity on.
For an Arkansas family, losing Medicaid can turn an already difficult month into a crisis.
During Arkansas’s six-month Medicaid review in 2023, more than 427,000 people lost coverage. Some no longer qualified. But federal officials warned that eligible people, including children, could be losing coverage because of difficulties completing the renewal process. (apnews.com, medicaid.gov)
A missed notice or incomplete form does not mean a child no longer needs medicine. It means a family may need help navigating the system.
You did not administer Arkansas’s review, but as our United States senator, you have a responsibility to advocate for the people affected. Please use your influence to protect eligible families from preventable coverage losses and oppose federal policies that make those losses more likely.
Proverbs 31:9 says, “Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” Those words ask something of everyone entrusted with power: to hear people whose suffering might otherwise go unnoticed.
Senator, public support cannot be taken for granted. When constituents feel unheard, trust erodes. Families worried about their next prescription deserve to know that their senator understands their fear and will act on it.
Please support simpler renewals, accessible assistance, and a transparent review of paperwork-related terminations. Work with state officials to help eligible Arkansans regain coverage promptly.
Protecting taxpayer dollars matters. So does protecting a child whose parent cannot afford the medicine waiting behind the pharmacy counter.
Please show Arkansas families that their health and dignity matter to you.
