Investigate and Defund Trump's $1.8 Billion Anti-Weaponization Slush Fund

To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee, Rep. Maloy

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

May 26

Block Trump's $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" slush fund. This money, extracted through a legal settlement between Trump and the IRS, is being used to pay out claims from January 6 rioters, convicted felons, and Trump-backed super PAC members. That's not justice — that's a president using public funds to reward his political allies. The White House sent GOP senators a document defending the fund that contains at least nine documented falsehoods. It claims independent auditing is possible, but omits that acting AG Todd Blanche gets to pick the auditor and can veto any audit he doesn't like. Even Republican senators are calling this out — Thom Tillis called it "stupid on stilts" and warned it could compensate people who assaulted police officers. One GOP senator texted that "our majority is melting down before our eyes." Legal watchdog Donald K. Sherman called it "one of the single most corrupt acts in American history." My tax dollars should not be funding payouts to Mike Lindell, Enrique Tarrio, or anyone who stormed the Capitol. Demand a full investigation, support any amendment forcing a floor vote on this fund, and do not let it stand.
