Block the Renaming of Military Bases in Honor of Confederates

To: Rep. Subramanyam, Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner

From: A verified voter in Sterling, VA

September 15

The Trump administration is planning to rename several military bases, many of which are in our state of Virginia, after Confederate leaders. While they may be trying to obfuscate this illegal move by claiming the names are honoring other soldiers, we know what's really going on and why. This change, in addition to renaming the Department of Defense, will cost American taxpayers millions of dollars. And for what? To elevate the memory of a failed rogue state? To honor people who fought and killed for the right to own people? What does this do to improve our country? We all know it's just a ploy to pander to the MAGA base. And it should be stopped. It's harmful and wasteful. As your constituent, I'm asking you to please do everything you can to ensure the tax payers of this country don't have to foot the bill for this ridiculous stunt while they themselves fight to keep food on their tables. Block the renaming of these installations.
