Stop DOGE and it's Unelected Engineers

To: Sen. Hassan, Rep. Pappas, Sen. Shaheen

From: A constituent in Manchester, NH

February 3, 2025

It has been reported in Bloomberg News that Elon Musk and his unofficial DOGE team has forced themselves on officials and taken over sensitive personal and financial data at the US Treasury Department (article can be found at https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-02/musk-says-doge-is-rapidly-shutting-down-treasury-payments) and Wired magazine is reporting that his personal engineers, all aged between 19-24 years old with no previous government experience, are being allowed full access to this data. (Article can be found at https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-government-young-engineers/). This is deeply concerning as this data is sensitive in nature and they are making rash decisions on how to utilize it. https://dl-rapidbot.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/attachments/1/7367/e54e/7367e54e-9f0e-4867-a855-be0074671cc2.php I have experience working at a JP Morgan Chase and in order to get access to even basic information such as credit card data or bank accounts, we needed to pass FBI security checks and drug testing in order to even see this information. There is currently no indication that any of these unelected engineers and Elon Musk have a security clearance at all, let alone enough to access information on this scale and make decisions on who and what people should be paid or receive federal grant money. I find the complete lack of oversight of these individuals to be deeply concerning. There is no transparency on how or why they are making decisions with this data, and they are actively forcing out experienced officials to enact their clandestine schemes. I am writing to you to express my deepest concern that these individuals are causing deep harm to the basic functions of our economy and our government, and am asking that they be held accountable for what they are currently undertaking. I am asking that these individuals be held accountable for their actions, and for them to answer serious questions. I believe they should be brought before a congressional committee to explain themselves, and for them to face investigation into any potential violations on federal law they may be making through their unprecedented actions. We cannot allow an unelected businessman with foreign interests, including with some of our greatest international adversaries and a team of teenagers who are barely out of high school to be making unilateral decisions on how our country operates financially. Thank you for your time.
