I am writing with serious concern about efforts to undermine judicial education on climate science. Recent reporting reveals that Leonard Leo, known for his role in selecting Supreme Court justices, is connected to a campaign attacking the Environmental Law Institute's neutral climate education program for judges.
The American Energy Institute, linked to Leo's CRC Advisors, is attempting to discredit this judicial education program by falsely claiming it "corruptly influences the courts." This is particularly troubling given that:
• The Environmental Law Institute's board includes executives from major energy companies
• The program provides objective, science-based information to judges
• This attack comes as the Supreme Court considers critical climate litigation cases
• The campaign appears coordinated with fossil fuel interests
As your constituent, I would like to know:
1. Will you defend the independence of judicial education from special interest interference?
2. What is your position on ensuring judges have access to objective scientific information?
3. How will you protect our courts from coordinated campaigns to prevent judges from learning about climate science?
The integrity of our judicial system depends on judges having access to factual, scientific information free from political interference.
