I am writing to urge you to stand firm against the proposed Republican budget—a reckless and dangerous plan that slashes essential programs, attacks fundamental rights, and hands unchecked power over federal spending to Trump, Elon Musk, and their billionaire allies. Democrats must hold the line. I fully support your efforts to secure a funding deal that: • Rejects extreme cuts and poison-pill policies that target abortion rights, LGBTQ+ protections, and immigrant communities. • Includes strong, enforceable protections to prevent Trump, Musk, and their allies from hijacking federal spending. Until Republicans agree to these terms, I urge you to oppose anything beyond a clean, two-week continuing resolution. The government must stay open, but not at the cost of caving to an extreme MAGA agenda. Furthermore, as Trump and Musk continue their blatant efforts to seize control—illegally raiding federal funds, attempting to shut down agencies, and targeting federal workers—I urge House Democrats to use every procedural tool available to fight back. Hold accountability hearings, issue subpoenas, and make Republicans defend their dangerous choices in public. This is not business as usual, and it cannot be treated as such. The stakes are too high for half-measures or compromise with bad-faith actors. I stand with you in demanding a budget that protects our communities, preserves our democracy, and refuses to let Trump and Musk dismantle our government from within. Thank you for your leadership.
