As a voter in the state of North Carolina, I am writing to BEG you to do all that you can to protect and defend public media. The White House plans to claw back funds that have already been appropriated for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is dangerous and will be devasta ting for local communities in North Carolina. If the White House is successful, North Carolina taxpayers will get little-to-no savings at incredible cost. ure shows, food programs, coverage of local sports games, and crucial emergency alerting. Communities with stations unable to survive these budget cuts will lose access to local news, national reporting, jazz and classical stations, local cult Independent, nonprofit, local media serving communities across North Carolina and the nation must persist. Furthermore, at the very core of our nation's traditions is a free press and media. We will lose who we are as a nation, and who we can be, if we cut off these outlets.
