No ICE funding without restraints.
To: Rep. McCollum
From: A constituent in Saint Paul, MN
January 16
As a resident of the twin cities, and who shares several identity markers with the late Renee Good, I am terrified, horrified, and disgusted by what is h appening in this state right now. I have been politically active for years, have organized and attended rallies and protests, I am 39, white, femme-bodie one. d, and gay. I was horrified and disgusted before, but the small bit of privilege I felt I could leverage against the invasive force of ICE 'agents', is g in their scope to be stopping people in traffic or blocking egress from an area. We cannot allow DHS and ICE to continue to operate outside their scope and with lethal force. They are not trained to be armed, they are not legally with The DHS and ICE funding ends soon. You, and your colleagues, have the power now to stop this from escalating further. Please DO NOT approve their funding without the following stipulations, at a minimum,:
1) ICE 'agents' must be disarmed. There is nothing to justify them carrying deadly weapons. They, as civilians have done when in fear of ICE, can call local law enforcement if they need protection while conducting the *reasonable* aspects of their jobs. oices in the course of their work. 2) There is no reason for these actions to be allowed without consequence. You must demand that ICE 'agents' be held accountable for their actions and ch age or accent, or whatever other nonsense demographic information they are using to justify their harassment and abduction of citizens and residents. 3) no profiling! Profiling is not probable cause. It's that simple. They cannot be allowed to continue to target people simply for their skin tone, langu Please demand accountability and scaling down to appropriate size the DHS and ICE. Do NOT fund them without these stipulations being met.
