Trump’s nominee to run the Bureau of Labor Statistics, E.J. Antoni, wants to stop monthly jobs reports and only release them every 3 months. That’s not “efficiency.” Monthly numbers matter. Measuring a $30 trillion economy isn’t instant, and monthly data lets workers, businesses, and policymakers make real decisions in a timely manner. Delays only help politicians who don’t want you to see the truth. This is about transparency, accountability and making sure the BLS serves the public, not a political agenda. Additionally, economists have warned that Antoni's appointment could spark concerns about partisanship at the BLS and foster distrust of the agency’s data. His lack of experience with data collection is also a concern. Reject Antoni’s nomination.
