Support the Trade Review Act to Rein in Executive Tariff Authority
To: Rep. Larsen
From: A constituent in Edmonds, WA
May 7
As your constituent, I am deeply concerned about the recent imposition of sweeping tariffs by the executive branch, which have led to increased costs for American consumers and strained relationships with key trading partners. The lack of congressional oversight in these decisions undermines the balance of powers and has significant economic implications.
I urge you to support the Trade Review Act, a bipartisan effort introduced by Senators Maria Cantwell and Chuck Grassley. This legislation seeks to restore congressional authority over trade policy by requiring:
• Presidential notification to Congress within 48 hours of imposing new tariffs.
• Congressional approval within 60 days for any new tariffs to remain in effect.
• Ongoing congressional oversight and the ability to terminate tariffs when necessary.
By supporting this act, you will help ensure that trade policies are subject to democratic processes and reflect the interests of your constituents.
I respectfully request a response detailing your position on the Trade Review Act and any actions you plan to take to support its passage.
