First, what is Rep. Carey doing about President Trump’s refusal to comply with the Supreme Court? This is a constitutional crisis. As someone who swore to uphold the Constitution, I hope Rep. Carey will publicly affirm the importance of checks and balances—and push the president to comply. Second, I urge Rep. Carey to support the D.C. Local Funds Act. Blocking D.C. from managing its own local budget would hurt essential services like schools and public safety. Please support this legislation. Finally, I strongly oppose H.R. 1702, the so-called JUDGES Act. Allowing 22 lifetime judicial appointments this late in a presidency undermines judicial independence. Please vote no.
