​I am writing to demand that you co-sponsor and vote for H. Res. 996, the resolution to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. ​Her conduct as Secretary has gone beyond policy disagreements and crossed into lawlessness that endangers American citizens and violates the Constitution. The evidence supporting the articles of impeachment is clear and demanding of action: ​Violation of Public Trust & Abuse of Power: Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS operations have resulted in the deaths of American citizens, including Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Her directives have allegedly authorized warrantless raids and excessive force that terrorize communities and violate Fourth Amendment rights. ​Obstruction of Congress: Secretary Noem has repeatedly blocked Members of Congress from conducting oversight, including denying access to detention facilities. This is a direct attack on the checks and balances mandated by our Constitution. ​Self-Dealing and Corruption: Reports indicate misuse of taxpayer funds, including a $200 million recruitment contract awarded without a proper competitive bidding process to associates of DHS leadership. ​ We cannot allow a cabinet official to operate above the law. Secretary Noem’s actions are a threat to public safety and the rule of law. I urge you to fulfill your constitutional duty: support the impeachment proceedings and remove her from office immediately.
