An Open Letter

To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A verified voter in South Salt Lake, UT

March 13

I am writing to express my absolute opposition to any Continuing Resolution that would hand over Congress’ power of the purse and their Constitutional authority over appropriations to Musk, Trump, MAGA and DOGE. As our elected Senator, it is your responsibility to uphold the Constitution and do your jobs: our taxpayer dollars are the purview of Congress and cannot be subject to the whims of an unelected billionaire or a man that fancies himself our king. I demand that enforceable guardrails are put in place to protect Americans from DOGE in any spending bill that you pass. It is absurd that people with zero legal jurisdiction over government operations are making critical funding decisions. I promise you that no one will remember a government shut down in November, but they will remember any politician that permitted the implosion of the Constitution, rule of law, and the destruction of the government programs that serve and protect them. Do your job and protect the institutions and programs that Americans rely on. Do your job and protect Congressional authority. Vote NO on cloture Vote NO on the Republican spending bill No budget until guardrails are in place to protect Americans from DOGE. There is no bipartisanship under authoritarianism.
