Demand Rep. McGuire defend civil liberties, rebuke executive overreach
To: Rep. McGuire
From: A constituent in Manakin Sabot, VA
February 9, 2025
I am outraged over Congressman McGuire's deafening silence as Elon Musk and his loyalists unlawfully seized control of federal agencies and systems containing classified information and private data of millions of Americans. As our elected representative, McGuire has a constitutional duty to serve as a check on the executive branch's overreach and abuse of power. His failure to condemn these alarming actions or take any steps to rein in the administration's unconstitutional power grab is a betrayal of the oath he swore to uphold the Constitution. McGuire was elected to fight for his constituents, not kowtow to billionaires and enable the dismantling of our democratic institutions. We demand he immediately break his unacceptable silence, denounce this administration's flagrant violation of the separation of powers, and take concrete legislative action to protect our rights, liberties and personal information from being compromised. His continued complicity in this executive overreach at the expense of our civil liberties is an unacceptable dereliction of duty that undermines the public's trust. McGuire must remember he works for us, not the other way around.
