Hello, my name is Autum, and I’m a concerned resident of Asheville. I’m writing today to request immediate action to protect our housing-vulnerable neighbors who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene.
We understand the courts need to resume critical functions like criminal cases and custody hearings, but no one should have to face eviction or foreclosure in the wake of this devastating storm.
I urge you to extend filing deadlines and grant additional relief and accommodations for those facing eviction due to damage, lost wages, or displacement caused by the hurricane.
Please support a rent, foreclosure, and eviction moratorium to provide much-needed relief to those in our community already suffering from Hurricane Helene’s destruction. Now is the time to show compassion and prioritize housing security.
Thank you for your time and your consideration of this urgent matter.
