Abolish ICE

To: Rep. Murphy, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in New Bern, NC

January 13

I am a Republican voter and a constituent writing in outrage over the Trump administration’s handling of the fatal ICE shooting of an innocent U.S. citizen in Minnesota. The killing itself is disturbing. The administration’s subsequent refusal—through the Department of Justice and federal agencies—to cooperate with Minnesota’s investigation is far worse. When federal law enforcement kills a civilian and then blocks state authorities from fully investigating, it undermines the Constitution, due process, and public trust. No agency should be allowed to act as judge, jury, and shield for its own conduct. This is not law and order; it is federal overreach and a deliberate evasion of accountability. This is not about immigration policy or partisan loyalty. It is about whether government agents are subject to the same rule of law as the people they serve. I expect you to publicly demand full cooperation with state investigators, meaningful congressional oversight, and enforceable limits on ICE’s use of force. Voters like me are watching closely. How you respond to this moment will weigh heavily on my support in November and beyond. Silence or deflection will be understood as acceptance of conduct that most Americans—and most Republicans—find indefensible. I expect a clear public position and concrete action.
