Re: FAA-2026-9736 - Follow Environmental Review for SpaceX port in Louisiana
In considering where to site spaceports and launch corridors, I am opposed to any FAA action to waive basic safeguards for human health, communities, and wildlife for aerospace developments, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Air Act. These waivers would impact spaceport projects across the nation, and perhaps most near-term, the SpaceX Starbase project in Southwest Louisiana.
SpaceX and other air projects can move forward in Louisiana and elsewhere without waiving fundamental environmental protections. These statutes are critical to protecting our air, water, wildlife, and public health. Development without review and mitigation is now putting a highly valuable area of Louisiana’s already vulnerable and rapidly eroding coastline in harm’s way, jeopardizing endangered species and fragile ecosystems. Developments like spaceports are not the exception, they are the type of projects for which these laws were created.
Please mitigate impacts from the SpaceX development in Louisiana and all aerospace developments across the nation by complying with the statutes that are meant to protect America’s water, air, health, and wildlife.
