An Open Letter

To: Rep. Harris

From: A verified voter in Concord, NC

December 13

Please do not support KOSA or any bill that mandates censorship and privacy violations of American citizens in the name of children’s safety. This won’t keep children safer, it will only bar them from education and deny adults the right to a free and open internet. Americans should not have to upload copies of their government identification to a website and expose themselves to security risks and identity theft or submit their biometric information to be stored and potentially leaked in the name of safety. This is an overreaction and will have far reaching impacts and cause irreversible damage to the internet and the way it functions as we know it. Do not support this bill and encourage your colleagues to do the same. I will not put my vote to support any official who sides with this bill and will be strongly encouraging everyone I know to do the same if this passes.
