Block the "Big Beautiful Bill"

To: Sen. Murkowski, Sen. Sullivan

From: A constituent in Anchorage, AK

July 1

As an Alaskan born and raised, I love this state and its people. I love our country, our people, the culture, and the beautiful lands we live on. However, I am very disappointed in your vote today on the "Big Beautiful Bill". I was relying on you to fight for your people. Instead, you decided to make us suffer and force us to fight even harder to stay alive and support our families. I know that I am not alone in this feeling of defeat and betrayal by my own government. Instead of helping the people that need it, this bill helps the ultra rich and hurts everyone else. Many people across Alaska and the United States will die as a result of this bill. As a result of your vote. I realize that you did win an exemption for our state from the SNAP cuts, but we cannot sit here and watch people die across the country. My father has been a fisherman since he was 7 years old. He has owned his own boat since 1974, and worked his entire life to give my family a home and food on the table. He is one of many amazing and hardworking Alaskan people that you are meant to serve. A few years ago he was diagnosed with cancer, and my father needs medical care. Without being able to fish anymore due to his health, this bill may cause him to lose access to healthcare. He is not alone. Thousands of Americans will loose their healthcare. Please understand the weight of this loss. Please do not stand by and watch your people suffer. Fight for the rights of the innocent, the vulnerable, and those who you are meant to protect.
