Request for Congressional Inquiry into ICE Processes and Procedures

To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Dunn, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Tallahassee, FL

January 8

I am writing as a constituent to express serious concern regarding recent ICE operations, particularly in light of the events reported in Minneapolis this week. Regardless of where one stands politically, the federal government has an obligation to ensure that its enforcement agencies are operating with clear procedures, appropriate oversight, and full respect for constitutional rights and due process. The information emerging around recent ICE actions has raised questions for me about how decisions are being made, how operations are conducted on the ground, and what safeguards are in place to prevent harm to individuals and communities. I am respectfully requesting that Congress conduct a formal inquiry into ICE’s current processes and procedures, including but not limited to: * Operational decision-making and authorization * Compliance with due process and civil liberties * Transparency and accountability mechanisms * Coordination with local authorities and community impact Oversight is a core responsibility of Congress, and an inquiry would help ensure that enforcement actions align with the law, stated policy goals, and fundamental democratic principles. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued service. I would appreciate knowing what steps your office is taking to address oversight of ICE operations.
