Vote no on fiscally irresponsible One Big Beautiful Bill

To: Rep. Owens

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

July 1

I urge you to vote against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) because it would significantly increase the federal deficit and debt burden. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that the bill's tax cuts and spending increases would add over $2 trillion to the deficit over the next decade. This reckless fiscal policy threatens long-term economic stability and growth. As our national debt approaches $32 trillion, or over 120% of GDP, unchecked deficit spending jeopardizes America's financial standing and future prosperity. We must pursue fiscally responsible policies that rein in debt while still investing in crucial areas like infrastructure, education, and research and development. The OBBB fails this test. I implore you to reject this legislation and instead chart a sustainable fiscal path forward that does not saddle future generations with mountains of debt. Our nation's economic health depends on restraining the growing deficit through balanced, pragmatic budgeting. Vote no on the OBBB Act.
