Support S.223: Restoring First Amendment Rights

To: Rep. Ross, Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

July 21

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent from Raleigh, North Carolina, to strongly urge your support for the "Restoring the First Amendment and Right to Peaceful Civil Disobedience Act of 2025," S.223. This vital legislation seeks to repeal the outdated and, in my view, often misused Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. I believe the FACE Act has been applied in ways that infringe upon fundamental First Amendment rights, including freedom of speech, assembly, and the right to engage in peaceful civil disobedience. Supporting S.223 would reaffirm the robust protections guaranteed by our Constitution for all Americans to express their views and participate in peaceful protest without undue federal interference. It would help ensure that the federal government does not overreach in regulating activities that are already adequately addressed by state and local laws, and that individuals' rights to peaceful dissent are fully upheld. I respectfully request that you champion S.223 and vote in favor of its passage. Your support for this bill is critical to safeguarding the First Amendment freedoms that are foundational to our republic. Thank you for your time and consideration of this important matter.
