Vote No on HR 25
To: Rep. Hern
From: A constituent in Broken Arrow, OK
February 3
The proposed legislation to abolish the income tax system and replace it with a national sales tax would disproportionately burden middle and lower-income families. A consumption-based tax inherently places a heavier burden on those with limited resources, as they must spend a larger portion of their income on taxable goods and services to meet basic needs. This regressive form of taxation fails to account for the diminishing marginal utility of income and would exacerbate economic inequality. Furthermore, relying primarily on state administration introduces complexities that could lead to uneven enforcement and compliance issues. For these reasons, I urge you to oppose this bill and maintain a more equitable, progressive tax structure that upholds principles of fairness and ensures the financial stability of all citizens, regardless of economic status.
