I am writing to express deep concern and outrage over former President Donald Trump’s recent posts on Truth Social that depict President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in racist, dehumanizing imagery. Content portraying Black Americans as apes is not only vile and offensive—it is historically rooted in racism and violence, and it has no place in American political discourse.
This behavior is not merely inappropriate; it is dangerous. It normalizes hatred, emboldens extremism, and degrades the moral authority of our national leadership. A man who amplifies racist AI-generated propaganda mocking a significant portion of the American population should not be treated as a normal political figure, let alone as someone fit for the highest office in the country.
The silence from large portions of Congress is deeply troubling. Leadership requires moral clarity. The entire Congress should be speaking out against this behavior—not excusing it, not minimizing it, and not ignoring it.
Our democracy depends not only on laws, but on standards. Public office must mean something. Decency must mean something. Accountability must mean something.
I urge you to publicly condemn this behavior and make clear that racism, dehumanization, and propaganda have no place in American leadership—regardless of party or power.
