I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to Senator Mike Lee’s proposal to abolish the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and replace it with private security companies. While I recognize the need for improvements in airport security, eliminating the TSA would be a dangerous step backward for national security and public safety. The TSA plays a critical role in maintaining consistent and standardized security measures across all U.S. airports. Replacing it with private companies could lead to inconsistent security protocols, reduced oversight, and potential gaps in safety. Additionally, privatization raises concerns about accountability and cost-effectiveness, as for-profit companies may prioritize financial interests over passenger security. Rather than dismantling the TSA, I urge you to support efforts to improve its efficiency, invest in better training, and implement technological advancements that enhance security while improving the passenger experience. Air travel safety is too important to be left to a patchwork of private entities with varying levels of regulation and oversight. I strongly urge you to oppose any legislation that seeks to abolish the TSA and instead work toward meaningful reforms that ensure both security and efficiency in air travel. Thank you for your time and for considering my concerns. I look forward to your response.
