Revoke Musk's assault on democratic governance
To: Rep. Miller
From: A constituent in Lodi, OH
February 5
It is deeply concerning that an unelected billionaire like Elon Musk has been granted sweeping authority to dismantle federal agencies and access sensitive government data systems. This flagrant overreach undermines democratic principles and erodes critical public services that millions of Americans rely upon. Musk's actions to freeze funding, impose widespread layoffs, and gain unauthorized access to systems like Medicare are a brazen assault on the governmental institutions that exist to serve the people's interests, not the whims of the wealthy elite. Musk's dismissive attitude towards oversight, his refusal to answer to Congress, and his close collaboration with the President on these reckless endeavors are alarming violations of accountability and transparency. No individual, regardless of wealth or corporate status, should wield such unchecked power to upend agencies like USAID, NOAA, and others without any review process or public input. This is an unacceptable erosion of checks and balances. I urge you to take immediate action to revoke Musk's illegitimate authority, restore full funding and staffing to impacted agencies, and launch comprehensive investigations into this intentional sabotage of the federal government's ability to serve the American people. Safeguarding our democratic institutions from the self-serving depredations of the ultra-wealthy must be an utmost priority. Rein in this egregious overreach before further, irreversible harm is inflicted.
