I am writing to you today energized by the recent blue wave that secured Democratic control of Congress. This victory was a clear, unmistakable referendum on the direction of the current administration. We must seize this momentum to hold corrupt officials to account, and to do that effectively, I strongly urge you to elect a new Speaker of the House. While I recognize Representative Jeffries’ past contributions to the party, this moment demands a firmer, far more assertive approach. We can no longer afford to placate "colleagues" who enrich themselves and their allies by voting against essential lifelines like SNAP, Medicare, and Medicaid. Nor should we extend unearned grace to those who actively shield bad-faith actors from accountability. These are not serious partners in governance; they are impediments to it. We need a Speaker who refuses to compromise with those who act against the public good. We need leadership that will empower every House committee to relentlessly investigate the corruption and abuses of power over the last two years and the previous term. It is time for a House of Representatives that unapologetically roots out those who have betrayed the American people. I expect you to use your vote in the Democratic caucus to demand the aggressive, uncompromising leadership this mandate requires. Do not vote for Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House.
