Our nation is standing on a knife’s edge. Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C.—a city with historically low crime rates right now—is not about safety, it is about control. Federalizing D.C.’s police, flooding the streets with armed troops, and staging them in tourist zones while claiming it’s a crime crackdown is nothing but political theater meant to normalize military presence in civilian life.
Now he is expanding this scheme into the states. Nineteen states are mobilizing Guard troops for immigration processing under the guise of “support,” but make no mistake—this is laying the groundwork for expanded federal militarization across our country. Chicago and New York are already being openly targeted for future crackdowns, despite falling crime rates and strong local opposition. This is not law and order. This is federal overreach, a deliberate assault on states’ rights, and a dangerous erosion of democracy.
We do not elect representatives to stand by silently while authoritarianism takes root. You cannot treat this as just another political disagreement. This is the militarization of our streets and the stripping of local authority. If unchecked, it will spread from symbolic deployments to outright suppression.
I demand that you stop the niceties, stop the polite words, and start fighting—for real. Push back with legislation, lawsuits, oversight hearings, and every lever of power you hold. Call this what it is: an unconstitutional power grab designed to normalize a military state. History will remember whether you stood in defense of liberty or allowed a would-be dictator to march us toward authoritarian rule.
The time for polite politics is over. Fight for our country. Fight now.
